After Qantas and Air France, the company has signed last Saturday, its 3rd code share agreement and a special prorate agreement (SPA) with Japan Airlines.
Five representatives from this international company, lead by Mr Chikara SUGIMOTO (Senior Vice President of International Affairs), arrived on Saturday 17 January on our flight TN77 for the code share signing ceremony to be held in Bora Bora, in company of our CEO, Mr Geffry SALMON.
Our first code share flight will depart from Japan on 20 April, and return to Japan on 26 April from Papeete.
Code share flights to or from Japan will be operated by Air Tahiti Nui Airbus 340-300 aircraft as follows:
From Tokyo/Narita to Papeete:
JL5177/TN077 Monday and Saturday
From Tokyo/Narita to Papeete (via Kansai):
From Papeete to Tokyo/Narita:

From Papeete to Tokyo/Narita (via Kansai):
In addition, with the new SPA agreement, we can now offer to our local and international customers negotiated tariffs to 19 cities in Asia by flying the Papeete – Narita or Osaka sector with our company and the supplemental sector on a flight operated by JAL. Similarly, Asian tourists now have new transportation options for coming to French Polynesia from these 19 cities.
This agreement concerns:
10 Japanese cities: Osaka, Sapporo, Okinawa, Fukuoka, Nagoya, Hakodate, Fukushima, Matsuyama, Okayama & Toyama.
11 international cities (of which 9 are on the Asian continent): Seoul, Busan, Beijing, Shanghai, Manila, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Los Angeles & Paris.
This code share agreement will allow for an increased visibility of Tahiti and Her Islands in the Japanese market in particular, and the Asian market in general (Hong Kong, Singapour, Seoul…), as Air Tahiti Nui and Japan Airlines team up to launch promotional activities featuring French Polynesia.
Air Tahiti Nui flys a young fleet of Airbus 340-300 aircraft and is known for its Polynesian ambiance and friendly hospitality. The 2003 Skytrax Airline Survey voted Air Tahiti Nui "Best Cabin Staff, Australia/Pacific", "Best Airline, Pacific", "Best Longhaul Newcomer" and voted the Airbus 340-300 "Most Comfortable Longhaul Aicraft".
With this new partnership, our Commercial Department expects an increase in traffic of about 10% to 20 % on our Tahiti – Japan routes. This represents an increase of about 2500 to 5000 supplemental passengers when compared to the previous year.
